The advantages and qualities of the Welsh Mountain Sheep remain as relevant and as important to agriculture in the twenty-first century as it had been for generations.
The breed is unrivalled in its native environment, its exceptional hardness and ability to survive in difficult circumstances means that it can thrive where other breeds would perish.
Welsh Mountain Sheep are excellent browsers, economical to purchase and to maintain, they make outstanding mothers, are protective of their young and have easy lambing whether inside or outside. The lambs are born with a good covering of wool to enable them to survive. They are active from the start without the need for a lot of extra feeding, thriving best on mother’s milk and the natural pasture uplands of Wales.
