The winner of the 2016 prize for the society’s Ram of the Year was Hefin Jones, Llwynsarn, Rhydymain who came first in six of the qualifying shows during the season. The ram was widely regarded as being an excellent example of the breed and a worthy winner of the competition now in its second year. Mr Jones was presented with the Pierce Owen Cup by chairman David Bebb Evans at the society’s AGM last January.  There are 22 qualifying shows that count towards the overall prize running from spring until the end of August. Competitors aren’t required to compete in all qualifying shows but the society hopes that the competition will encourage greater participation.
